IfG DevoLab

An initiative from the Institute for Government, dedicated to exploring the policy and governance innovations enabled by devolution.

As the government deepens and extends devolution across England, regional mayors and other local leaders are playing an increasingly important role in improving economic, social, and environmental outcomes in the communities they represent.

The IfG DevoLab is an initiative from the Institute for Government, dedicated to exploring the policy and governance innovations enabled by devolution.

Through events, case studies, and in-depth analysis, we highlight what works and what places can learn from each other – providing insights to guide leaders and policy makers as they shape strategies, design policy and allocate budgets in areas of devolved responsibility.

Whether it is improving transport connectivity, attracting jobs and investment, building homes, regenerating infrastructure, or pioneering new governance models, the IfG DevoLab will shine a light on how places can use devolution to tackle the challenges they face.

Explore the innovations. Learn from the results. Share the lessons.

This is devolution, IRL.
