Brexit: What now for UK immigration policy?

Leaving the EU offers an opportunity to rethink the UK’s immigration policy and to design and implement a new immigration system.

Leaving the EU offers an opportunity to rethink the UK’s immigration policy and to design and implement a new immigration system.

The latest event in the Institute for Government’s popular Brexit series sought to answer:

  • How we decide on the UK’s future immigration system?
  • The legal and administrative options for reducing immigration?
  • How should Government engage with public concerns over immigration?

Audience members were invited to submit questions on these challenges in advance to be put to our expert panel which included:

  • Madeleine Sumption, Director of the Migration Observatory, University of Oxford
  • The Rt Hon Mark Harper MP, former Minister for Immigration 2012-2014
  • Jill Rutter, Director of Strategy and Relationships, British Future
  • Alp Mehmet, Vice Chairman, Migration Watch UK
  • Lindsey Barras, Director, PwC Legal

The event was chaired by Jill Rutter, Programme Director, Institute for Government.

We would like to thank PwC for supporting this event.
