Who Chose the Sheriff?: Finding quality candidates for the police and crime commissioner elections

This paper makes 11 recommendations for Police and Crime Commissioner candidate selection.

The recommendations aim to widen the pool of candidates, ensure that more diverse and higher quality candidates are selected, and build transparency and wider public involvement into party selection processes. The report draws on our previous report on candidate selection, Party People, the main output of a Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust funded project.
