Professor Sir Lawrence Freedman discussed the themes from his new book, The Future of War, A History and how the Government can prepare for changing global threats. By considering how the future of war has been anticipated in the past and why things often went wrong, he offered advice on the inherently difficult task of approaching national security issues.

He was in conversation with Daniel Thornton, Programme Director at the Institute, who previously worked on counter-terrorism at No10 Downing Street, and has recently worked with the Ministry of Defence.
