In government, algorithms have the potential to make public service delivery more efficient and personalised. But that’s just the start. This event considered the opportunities and challenges for government as computers become more powerful, data becomes more abundant and progress in artificial intelligence continues apace.

Joining us on Ada Lovelace Day, an annual celebration of women in science, our panel included:

  • Helen Margetts, Director of the Oxford Internet Institute and Programme Director for Public Policy at the Alan Turing Institute
  • Hetan Shah, Executive Director, Royal Statistical Society
  • Harpreet Sood, NHS England's Associate Chief Clinical Information Officer.

The event was chaired by Gavin Freeguard, Programme Director and Head of Data and Transparency at the Institute for Government.

This event was in partnership with the Royal Statistical Society
