This event launched the third edition of Performance Tracker, a data-driven analysis of the performance of key public services from the Institute for Government and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy.

A unique independent analysis, Performance Tracker uses over 100 data series to shed light on the heated debate about whether our public services have made efficiencies, and how much further they can go. This edition examined nine public services in depth, including prisons, hospitals, schools, police and children’s social care.

Dr Emily Andrews, Associate Director at the Institute for Government, presented the key findings.

To discuss, our panel included:

  • Andrew Burns, Finance Director at Staffordshire County Council and CIPFA past president
  • Chris Cook, Policy Editor, BBC Newsnight

This event was chaired by Gemma Tetlow, Chief Economist at the Institute for Government.
