At this event, he gave a speech on the risks to our democratic process and the need to secure its continued integrity and reputation.  He was in conversation with Bronwen Maddox, Director of the Institute for Government.  

This was followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

Sir John Holmes started his career at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and served in a wide range of diplomatic roles in London, Moscow, New Delhi, Lisbon and Paris. He spent four years (1996-99) in Downing Street, has served as UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and was most recently Director of the Ditchley Foundation. He became Chair of the Electoral Commission in January 2017.
