Angela Eagle is the member of parliament for Wallasey, elected in 1992 as the seat’s first Labour MP. 

She has served as a government, minister in several departments, including the Home Office and Treasury in both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown’s governments, and in several shadow cabinet positions including shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, shadow leader of the House and shadow secretary of state for Business, Innovation and Skills. 

She is an honorary fellow of St John’s College Oxford, and was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2021 New Year Honours for parliamentary and political service. 

She currently sits on the Treasury Select Committee, and holds a number of positions within the Labour Party including membership of the National Executive Committee and National Policy Forum.
