Data sharing during the pandemic

What lessons government needs to learn for the future.

Sharing data across and beyond the public sector was critical to the government’s pandemic response. From providing vital information needed by leaders to make big decisions to standing up new services drawing on a range of data sources to serve citizens, data was used at the heart of government like never before.

This project sought to highlight what went well, what could have gone better and what lessons government needs to learn for the future. The IfG hosted a series of private roundtables with public servants, academics and private organisations to discuss six case studies which have had their findings drawn together in a final report.
