Sir Andrew Cahn

Sir Andrew Cahn is Chair of Birkbeck College University of London. He has been a non-executive director of Nomura International plc, Lloyd’s of London, General Dynamics UK and Huawei Technologies UK and was a director of British Airways. 

Andrew was CEO of UK Trade and Investment, the government department responsible for promoting Britain’s trade overseas. He also worked in the European Commission as part of the team which created the single market, and as chef de cabinet to Neil Kinnock when he was responsible for reforming the administration of the commission.

In the 1990s, Andrew worked in the Cabinet Office, in the Cabinet Secretariat, and as principal private secretary to William Waldegrave when he was responsible for civil service reform.
