John Berriman is the chair of MacIntyre, a sector-leading national charity providing learning, support, education and care to young people and adults with learning disabilities, complex needs and autism, and their families.

He was previously Chief Operating Officer of the international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright. He was formerly UK Chief Operating Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and the founder chair of the PwC Government & Public Sector Finance Board, which oversees PwC’s relationships with finance in central and local government. He was appointed to a panel of independent experts (in 2010) to advise HM Treasury on instituting the UK Government’s financial management strategy. He authored five annual publications assessing the role and leadership of the finance function in the public sector (2008/09 to 2012/13). He has contributed to a range of Institute for Government projects, including on Financial Management in Government and Professionalising Whitehall.

John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He is Companion of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
