Gareth was the Institute for Government’s Director of Finance and Operations. He managed the Institute’s budget and its business and finance controls; ensured strong governance and regulatory compliance; and explored opportunities for business development.
Gareth joined the Institute in February 2011 from Penrose, where he was the social care organisation’s Director of Business and Finance. Before that, he was Head of Finance at Shelter.
Gareth has worked at senior levels across the not-for-profit and private sectors. He has significant experience of accounting, regulation and governance in the charity world. He undertook his accountancy training at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and, until moving into the not-for-profit sector, worked in PwC's banking practice.
