Women Leaders Series: Meet the mentors

For the next event in our Women Leaders series, we have assembled a panel of top mentors to give advice on developing careers in and around government

We have assembled a panel of top mentors to give attendees practical and useful advice on developing their careers in and around government. The session focuses on answering attendees’ questions.

Panellists

Margaret Mountford, former corporate finance partner in City law firm Herbert Smith (now Herbert Smith Freehills). She has held a number of non-executive directorships, and currently chairs Argent Group Europe, a privately owned group operating principally in the food sector, the Bright Ideas Trust, a charity which helps young people starting up their own businesses, and two schools. A member of the advisory board of Westminster Business School, she appeared in five series of BBC’s “Apprentice”.

Clare Moriarty, Director General, Rail Executive in the Department for Transport since January 2013. Clare is a strong advocate of mentoring. Clare mentors both internal civil service colleagues, particularly those looking to progress to DG level, as well as being a mentor for the Women in Rail group, whose aim is to improve diversity in the UK rail industry.

Peninah Thomson, Chief Executive of The Mentoring Foundation, the not-for-profit company that owns and manages the FTSE® 100 Cross-Company Mentoring Programme. She has also published four books and refereed articles on women’s leadership, corporate governance & business ethics and in 2012 was awarded an OBE for Services to Women and Equality in the Queen’s Jubilee Honours.
