Whitehall Monitor 2018 launch

Whitehall Monitor analyses the size, shape and performance of government and the civil service.

This event marked the launch of the fifth annual Whitehall Monitor, our flagship publication which analyses the size, shape and performance of government and the civil service.

Addressing how government can get things done in the year ahead, Whitehall Monitor 2018 examines:

  • how political decisions affect the day-to-day running of government
  • how the civil service is changing
  • the Government’s record on transparency.

Gavin Freeguard, report author and Head of Data and Transparency at the Institute for Government, presented the key findings. This was followed by a response from Dr Sarah Wollaston MP, Chair of the Health Select Committee.

The event was chaired by Bronwen Maddox, Director of the Institute for Government.
