The Institute for Government was delighted to welcome Sir Martin Donnelly KCB CMG to discuss the creation of Britain’s new trade department, and how best to organise and run a modern civil service. 

The discussion was chaired by Julian McCrae, Deputy Director of the Institute for Government.

Sir Martin Donnelly was Permanent Secretary at the Department for International Trade (DIT) until leaving the civil service on 24 March 2017. Previously, he was Permanent Secretary at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
