The Rt Hon Elizabeth Truss MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, discussed the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) modernisation programme, which she said will turn Defra into, '.. a highly responsive, open and data-driven department that will be a trailblazer for contemporary government, driving environmental improvement and economic growth, especially in the countryside, and providing better protection from natural threats.'

Liz Truss was in conversation with Peter Riddell, Director of the Institute for Government.
