The Government’s transformation strategy set out a vision for modernising public services using digital technology. But does it go far enough? How can internet-enabled Government transform public services?

'Better Public Services: A Manifesto' argues that previous efforts to use technology to improve public services have failed, and that new operating models are needed which draw upon the best practices of digital organisations.

To present the key proposals from their new collaboratively developed manifesto, the IfG welcomed Dr Mark Thompson, Senior Lecturer in Information Systems at Cambridge Judge Business School and Strategy Director, Methods Group, and Dr Jerry Fishenden, Co-Founder and Principal, Stance Global and Visiting Professor at the University of Surrey.

Lesley Cowley OBE, Chair of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and Companies House, responded.

The event was chaired by Daniel Thornton, Programme Director at the Institute.
