Government outsourcing: what can the UK learn from Australia? In conversation with Professor Gary Sturgess

The Institute for Government was delighted to welcome Professor Gary Sturgess, former Cabinet Secretary in Australia’s New South Wales state government and leading expert on outsourcing and competition.

He was in conversation with Nick Davies, Programme Director at the Institute for Government, to discuss the challenges facing government outsourcing in the UK and abroad, drawing on lessons from Australia.

The conversation was followed by audience questions.

Professor Gary Sturgess is an Adjunct Professor with the Australia and New Zealand School of Government and former Executive Director of the Serco Institute.
