MP development

About our work

Our work involves both induction for new MPs and continuing support for parliamentarians. In 2010 the Institute for Government and the Hansard Society both independent, non-partisan organisations, worked together to offer professional development sessions and mentoring opportunities for the new intake of MPs.

By providing access to experts who understand the wide range of a MPs responsibilities we aim to help new MPs quickly get to grips with their multiple roles, with a particular focus on Westminster and Whitehall and the scrutiny role MPs perform.

By offering continuing mentoring, development and leadership coaching to MPs once in place, we aim to support individuals, while also building parliament's capacity to function effectively.
