Working with the Institute for Government, the Commission aims to provide an authoritative contribution to the formulation and implementation of a long-term growth strategy for the UK, drawing on the best available research and evidence.
The Growth Commission published its final report on 31 January 2013. It articulates how to improve the growth performance of the UK economy in the medium to long-term. A key feature of the report is the discussion of how the recommendations can be embedded in the institutional landscape, including how the way government operates may need to change.
The commission used a series of public “evidence hearings”, each focusing on a growth-relevant topic. These sessions received input from leading economists and policy-makers.
