Transforming Whitehall Departments

This event examined the success factors for leading transformational change in Whitehall and the lessons for managing the next wave of change and downsizing.

The Institute for Government has worked with leaders responsible for change across Whitehall since 2009 and published the findings in Transforming Whitehall Departments. Sir Bob Kerslake, Head of the Home Civil Service, Jonathan Slater, Director-General Transformation and Corporate Services, Ministry of Defence, and James Page, author of the report and Programme Director at the Institute, discussed the findings and their implications for building a transformed and capable Civil Service.  A wider discussion followed, chaired by Peter Riddell, Director, Institute for Government.
