Strategic Objectives

2009/12

To help ministers, special advisers and top officials to develop further the skills and behaviours required to govern effectively, and to help opposition parties to become better prepared for political transitions and government.

To improve senior policymakers' understanding of public management problems and how they can be tackled, including by influencing the wider policy community and public debate and by developing a strong institutional memory.

To improve relationships and information flows between senior policymakers, including across government organisations and between politicians and officials, and to support links across the wider policymaking community.

To create a 'fit for purpose' Institute, which has the physical and human resources required to deliver on other organisational objectives.

To establish the Institute as the organisation which, through its rigorous and evidence based approach, shapes and develops better government.
